Privacy Policy
In plain terms
- We collect your details when you enquire about admissions, fill a form, or respond to one of our LinkedIn ads.
- We use it to process applications, share updates, and run our own marketing — we never sell it.
- GNITS does not use agents or consultants for admissions — never share payment details with anyone but us.
- You can ask us what we hold, correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time.
This summary is for convenience only — the full policy below is what governs.
Information we collect
What you give us directly
- Admissions & enquiry details — name, email, phone, date of birth, gender, category, academic records, and parent/guardian details submitted through our admissions, "How to Apply," and lateral‑entry forms, including program‑specific Google Forms (skilling programs, workshops, MoUs).
- Contact messages — anything you share with us by phone, email, or a website enquiry form.
- LinkedIn campaign responses — if you engage with a GNITS ad or lead form on LinkedIn, we receive the details you submit (and any profile details LinkedIn makes available to advertisers).
- Fee payments — processed by our payment partner, GrayQuest; GNITS itself never stores your card or bank details.
- Student records — academic, attendance, hostel, placement, and examination data for enrolled students, held in our ERP, ECAP, and WES systems.
What's collected automatically
Standard website data — IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, approximate location, and cookie identifiers — collected when you browse gnits.ac.in.
What we receive from others
LinkedIn and other ad platforms, analytics providers, and partner organisations we run joint programs with (Bajaj Auto, Curtin University, University of North Texas, and similar) may pass us information tied to a program you've applied to.
How we use it
- Respond to enquiries and process admissions applications
- Keep prospective students, parents, and alumnae informed on deadlines, events, and results
- Administer academic records, exams, placements, and campus facilities for enrolled students
- Run and measure our own marketing, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube campaigns
- Meet our regulatory obligations to AICTE, UGC, JNTUH, NAAC, NBA, NIRF, and the Government of Telangana
- Prevent impersonation by unauthorised admissions "agents" — GNITS does not appoint any
Legal basis
We process personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (India). We rely on your consent — such as submitting a form or responding to a LinkedIn ad — our legitimate educational and administrative interests, and, where applicable, our obligations as an AICTE/UGC/JNTUH‑affiliated autonomous institution.
Cookies & tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, measure traffic through tools like Google Analytics, and measure ad performance through the LinkedIn Insight Tag and comparable tools on other platforms we advertise on.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and manage ad personalisation directly within your LinkedIn account settings. Turning cookies off may limit some site features.
Sharing & disclosure
We share information only where it's needed to run GNITS, and only with:
- Service providers supporting our operations — our hosting provider, our marketing agency (Rwork), our payment partner (GrayQuest), and our verification partner (WES/DirectVerify)
- Regulatory and affiliating bodies — AICTE, UGC, JNTUH, NAAC, NBA, NIRF, and TGCHE / Government of Telangana
- Advertising platforms, only as needed to run and measure campaigns
- Partner institutions and companies for programs you've applied to — placements, internships, MoUs, skilling initiatives
- Law enforcement or government authorities, where legally required
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — including access controls on our ERP/ECAP systems and secure hosting — to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute protection.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes above, including academic record‑keeping required under AICTE/UGC/JNTUH regulations. Enquiry data from applicants who don't enrol is kept only as long as reasonably useful for admissions follow‑up.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can ask us to:
- Show you the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete
- Erase your information, where applicable
- Stop sending you marketing — unsubscribe anytime, or just tell us
- Address a grievance about how your data has been handled
To use any of these, reach out using the details in Section 10.
Minors' information
Some prospective and enrolled students are under 18. We collect their information only for admissions and academic administration, typically with a parent or guardian involved, and never repurpose it for unrelated marketing.
