Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at GNITS has been established to ensure a safe and supportive environment for women faculty, staff, and students. Functioning since August 1, 2017, the ICC aims to cultivate a healthy and intellectually stimulating work culture. It is constituted under the UGC Regulations, 2015, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, to address and resolve issues related to sexual harassment.
The GNITS Women Protection Cell strives to:
- Uphold women's right to protection and create a secure, dignified environment
- Offer a platform for addressing gender-related issues such as discrimination, harassment, and abuse.
- Organize programs to educate on gender-related laws and rights for women's intellectual and emotional well-being.
- Conduct guest lectures, workshops, and seminars to empower women as an integral workforce.
- Foster a healthy interaction and working environment among students and staff.
- Provide guidance and counseling for women in need.

Functions of the ICC
The ICC is responsible for protecting the rights of women against any form of violence on campus. Students and staff can report issues directly to the ICC members or through the Suggestion/Complaint boxes installed across the institution. The committee’s primary functions include:
- Enforcing policies related to the prevention of sexual harassment.
- Redressing complaints within the framework of the law, ensuring fairness and impartiality.
- Conducting awareness workshops and activities to educate the community about sexual harassment, its effects, and relevant laws.
- Preparing annual reports summarizing ICC actions and complaints filed.
- Striving to resolve complaints and recommending appropriate actions to the employer.

In line with UGC and AICTE regulations, the ICC addresses sexual harassment complaints with sensitivity and confidentiality. The ICC operates from a dedicated space where complainants can feel secure in sharing their issues. The grievance mechanism includes:
- Approach ICC Directly: Grievances can be submitted to the Coordinator or any committee member.
- Email Submissions: Complaints can be emailed to gnits.icc@gmail.com or aparna.tanam@gnits.ac.in.
- Head of Institution: The Head of Institution can guide the aggrieved to the ICC.
- Suggestion Boxes: Installed at various locations in the college.
- A dedicated room for ICC meetings, ensuring full confidentiality.
- ICC Cell located on the 2nd Floor, F Block.

- Women Safety Club: Instagram page “abhaya.gnits” for women safety-related activities.
- Notice boards and webpage for ICC information and updates.
General Roles and Responsibilities:
- Disseminate information and create awareness.
- Form sub-committees at the departmental level.
- Train members to maintain an equal, safe, and harmonious environment.
- Address and resolve grievances promptly.
- Prepare and submit an annual report of activities.
Coordinator:
- Prepare the ICC Almanac and oversee sub-committee activities.
- Organize meetings and prepare annual reports.
- Procure resources for cell functioning.
Faculty Members:
- Execute assigned tasks and support student members.
- Monitor and report on awareness activities.
Student Members:
- Assist faculty and remain vigilant on campus.
- Promote a grievance-free and friendly environment.
External Member:
- Support the functioning of the ICC.
- Assist in inquiries and awareness training.
- Ensure proceedings follow natural justice principles.
