ETM Department Highlights 2025–26
- Successfully organized the IEEE International Conference on Emerging Computing and Intelligent Technologies (ICoECIT–2026) on 28th January 2026, providing a global platform for research and innovation.
- Conducted a Pre-Conference Technical Workshop on “IoT and AI Trends in the Retail Sector” on 21st January 2026 under IEEE ICoECIT–2026, featuring Mr. Uday Chaitanya Saamala, CEO, Forte9 R&D Engineering Solutions, Hyderabad.
- Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bajaj Auto Limited to establish the BEST (Bajaj Engineering Skills Training) Centre, strengthening industry–academia collaboration and equipping students with industry-ready skills in firmware and embedded systems.
- Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BSNL to strengthen academia–industry collaboration through guest lectures, industrial visits, and technical skill development initiatives.
- Dr. A. Naveena and Dr. M. Vijayalakshmi were promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor with JNTU ratification.
- Achieved a 60% placement rate in the academic year 2025–2026, with students securing outstanding offers including ₹36 LPA at Cisco and ₹22 LPA at MathWorks, along with active participation in industry internships.
Pre-Conference Technical Workshop on “IoT and AI Trends in the Retail Sector” was conducted
as a part of the IEEE International Conference on Emerging Computing & Intelligent
Technologies (ICoECIT–2026) on 21st January 2026.
The workshop was jointly organized by the Departments of ETM, ECE and EEE.
Mr. Uday Chaitanya Saamala, CEO, Forte9 R&D Engineering Solutions, Hyderabad, was the
resource person and delivered an insightful session on Smart Retail Systems and AI case
studies, highlighting emerging IoT and AI applications in the retail sector.
77% of the faculty have either completed PhD or pursuing PhD from various reputed universities
Department Achievements:
- A grant of Rs. 23.59 Lakhs was sanctioned under the CURIE Core grant for women PG colleges for setting up 5G Network in a Box 2023-24.
- A grant of Rs. 4 Lakhs was sanctioned from MSME under MSME Women Ideathon 3.0 under the mentorship of Mr.V.Vikas and Ms.K.Pranathi in 2023-24.
- A grant of Rs. 17.29 Lakhs received under the MODROB grant from AICTE for the year 2013-14.
- The department has organized the International Conference on Computing, Communication, and Electrical Technologies (ICCCET) in 2019.
- Upcoming Event: The department is hosting the IEEE International Conference on Emerging Computing and Intelligent Technologies (ICoECIT 2026) in collaboration with INTI International University, Nilai, Malaysia.

We are immensely proud to share that our final-year B.Tech student, Bandakavi Sree Sowmya, from the Department of Electronics and Telematics Engineering at GNITS, has been recommended for the prestigious Young Engineer Award of the Year!
Sowmya’s profile is an inspiring blend of technical expertise, leadership, and cultural excellence. Her achievements include securing First Prize in the Electronic Ensemble event at a National-Level Tech Fest, participating in major competitions such as Hackfest 2024 and the Adobe Hackathon, and successfully serving as the President of the ISTE Student Chapter, GNITS.
Academically, she has demonstrated exceptional performance with a 9.12 CGPA in her B.Tech program and a 9.0 CGPA in her Data Science Minor. What truly distinguishes her is her well-rounded engagement—she presented a paper at the Global Youth Conclave on Ramayana and continues to nurture her passion for Carnatic music and the Veena.

Team Tech Hustlers with students Shirisha, Greeshma Reddy of 2019-23 batch and Mentors V Vikas, A. Chandra Shaker participated in Smart India Hackathon-2022 conducted by MHRD, Govt of India on 25th and 26th August, 2022. More than 15000 Students and Mentors travelled to 75 Nodal Centers to participate in the Grand Finale. The team proposed a solution for Spoofed Caller ID Detection (SCID) system and won 1st prize worth 1,00,000 rupees.
Kruthika Kanduri from 2017-2021 batch stood 1st and won a cash prize of ₹. 25000/- in the Decode Engage Contest, Hyderabad’s 1st Policy Champ conducted by Factly, India. It was a three level competition where 2500+ students participated and 15 finalists were shortlisted for the Finals conducted at JNTUH on Oct 2nd, 2019. Each of them had to suggest policy measures on the given topic. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of Telangana state was the Chief Guest.

It was a two-level competition where 180+ teams participated and 34 teams were shortlisted for the Finals conducted at Visvesvaraya Bhavan from 24/2/20 to 26/2/20.
