Received Best Paper Award for Design and Analysis of Reversible Random Access Memory during “3rd Research Day” on 28th August 2021 at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (A), Hyderabad. 3 Patents Applied and one Patent Published Submitted 7 Research Proposals for Various Funding Agencies. Received “Women Achiever” Award from Accenture on women’s day 2017, ‘Academic Excellence Award’ from Management of GNITS in 2007. Received AICTE Funds of 3.69 Lakhs for conducting AICTE Sponsored Short Term Training Programme on “Embedded systems in IOT” for faculty for the year 2019-2020. Received SPOC Certificate of Appreciation from NPTEL for instrumental role as SPOC for SWAYAM-NPTEL Local chapter for 5 consecutive years ,2017, 2018 and 2019. Dr.P.V.D. Somasekhar Rao
Dr. PVD Somasekhar Rao obtained his B.E. Degree in ECE from Sri Venkateswara tUniv. College of Engg., Tirupati (1977), and M.Tech. Degree in Microwave & Radar Engg., from IIT, Kharagpur (1979). He earned his Ph.D. Degree in ECE from I.I.T. Kharagpur (1990). Dr. Rao worked at Radar Centre, I.I.T. Kharagpur, and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR/ RAC Group), Ooty. Later, he joined the Faculty of ECE Department. of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. He occupied the positions of – Head of ECE Department. for about 3 terms at JNTUCEH, Hyderabad, Director, UGC-Academic Staff College, Director – School of Information Technology, Director – R&D Cell, BoS Chair for ECE and ETM Departments., and Director – Academics & Planning .. at JNTUH, Hyderabad. Dr. Rao has 40 years of Teaching/R&D/Industry experience, and has about 70 technical paper publications in reputed journals and conferences. He successfully organized more than 30 Short Term Courses under the aegis of MHRD/UGC/ISTE/JNTU. 8 Scholars received their Ph.D. under his Supervision/Co-supervision from JNT Univ. Hyderabad. He also worked as Visiting Professor at Broadband Telecommn. Lab., Bangkok, Thailand. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (USA), Member of IEEE-MTT Society, Life Member of ISTE(India), and Fellow of IETE (India). He received the “Andhra Pradesh State Best Teacher Award” for the year 2010. He was the also the recipient of Outstanding IEEE Branch Counselor/Advisor Award of USA. He was the Executive Committee Member of IEEE – Hyderabad Section, and a successful BranchCounselor of IEEE Student Branch, at JNTU College of Engg., Hyderabad, for 12 years. Dr. Somasekhar Rao has been on the Board of Studies for ECE at JNT University Hyderabad, for more than 10 years, and also acted as BoS Chair for ECE at JNTUH. He was also on the BoS for ECE at Osmania Univ., Sri Venkateswara Univ., JNT Univ-Anantapur, JNT Univ-Kakinada, Acharya Nagarjuna Univ., Sri Padmavati Mahila ViswaVidyalayam (SPMVV), and many other Autonomous Engg. Colleges. Dr. Rao is an active member on a number of AICTE Committees, NBA Committees, AP State Govt. Committees, APSCHE Committee, DRDO and NRSA Selection Committees. At GNITS, Hyderabad, he received the ISTE – TS Section Best ECE Teacher Award from Engineering Colleges in Telangana State, in Dec. 2019.
