Dr.P.V.D. Somasekhar Rao

Dr. PVD Somasekhar Rao obtained his B.E. Degree in ECE from Sri Venkateswara tUniv. College of Engg., Tirupati (1977), and M.Tech. Degree in Microwave & Radar Engg., from IIT, Kharagpur (1979). He earned his Ph.D. Degree in ECE from I.I.T. Kharagpur (1990).
Dr. Rao worked at Radar Centre, I.I.T. Kharagpur, and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR/ RAC Group), Ooty. Later, he joined the Faculty of ECE Department. of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
He occupied the positions of – Head of ECE Department. for about 3 terms at JNTUCEH, Hyderabad, Director, UGC-Academic Staff College, Director – School of Information Technology, Director – R&D Cell, BoS Chair for ECE and ETM Departments., and Director – Academics & Planning .. at JNTUH, Hyderabad.
Dr. Rao has 40 years of Teaching/R&D/Industry experience, and has about 70 technical paper publications in reputed journals and conferences. He successfully organized more than 30 Short Term Courses under the aegis of MHRD/UGC/ISTE/JNTU. 8 Scholars received their Ph.D. under his Supervision/Co-supervision from JNT Univ. Hyderabad.
He also worked as Visiting Professor at Broadband Telecommn. Lab., Bangkok, Thailand.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE (USA), Member of IEEE-MTT Society, Life Member of ISTE(India), and Fellow of IETE (India).
