Numerous activities are organized under student chapters, to facilitate the learning of logical and coding skills and also to present their inherent talents in different areas.
a. C- Skill test for I year, Java Skill Test for III Year are conducted on regular basis.
b. Software design contest and Software Debugging for II Years and III Years to improve the logical skills.
c. Student participation in events like Technical Quiz, TechnoPic, Technical treasure hunt etc to ensure the competency level.
d. Group discussions to help students to think individually about a topic or answer to a question and also to allow students to discuss and share ideas with classmates and build oral communication skills. It also helps students in comprehending the given question during classroom sessions.
e. Student seminars are conducted for students to share the knowledge relating to latest technical contributions and improve presenting skills.
Faculty Innovations in Teaching & Learning
Today, it is essential for the teacher to make the students to learn and master the latest technologies in order to be corporate ready:
Projectors-LCD/OHP projectors, Desktop / Laptops-Arranged in class rooms / Computer Lab and Faculty cabins all over the campus. e-class rooms departments with modern facilities such Smart Board with tools loaded to draw diagrams, search net for latest information, stylus /free hand drawings , storing the content etc , public address system, projectors are available Online Classes through Microsoft Teams software ,Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom) HackerRank (Online Coding Platform)-,edyst , conduira online platform for placement preparations /inter college competitions Support for e-resources- MOOC Platform (NPTEL, Coursera, SAP,Udemy) and Digital Library resources (DELNET, MYLOFTetc).
Faculty provided with net facility to use the global resources for effective presentations. Online quiz for students after the completion of each unit using GOOGLE Video Conferencing-Students are counselled/doubts cleared with the help of Teams /Zoom /Google meet applications. Video Lecture-Recording is made available to students for long term learning and future referencing using Impartus platform.You tube Lectures of some subjects and online content by the staff is also available for students to learn at their own pace.
Faculty adopt 1) Experiential learning which improves understanding, and skills development, making learning more effective. Few methods implemented are Workshops, Seminars, Virtual Lab, Simulation, Role play 2)Participative learning : motivates students to take up group activities, nurturing a supportive learning environment, promotes critical thinking and helps develop communication skills. Few methods implemented are Video, Demonstration, Activity-based learning, Think-Pair-Share, Flipped Classroom, GD/debate, Google Classroom, PPT, Kahoot 3)Problem solving :defining a problem, identifying its root cause, prioritizing and selecting potential solutions, and implementing the chosen solution. Few methods implemented are Project-based learning, Real-time case studies, Proto-type model, Crosswords, Research projects, Viva, Public Speaking.
Contributions of GNITS CSE Department Faculty towards inculcating innovative means in Teaching and Learning are clearly elucidated both in our Department Records and on the Institute Website for peer review and critique. Our work is open to be enhanced or reproduced. Some of our inclusive ways are, attractive presentations, interesting videos and mini projects, practice programs, out-of- syllabus assignment questions and quizzes, tutorial sessions especially for problematic and programming subjects, results analysis through interactive feedback, so forth. Proofs of the stated are comprehensively documented.
