CSE Department Report (2022-2023)

AICTE Sponsored International Conference

• The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) organized the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Communications (ICICC-22) in collaboration with E&ICT Academy, NIT Warangal, on the occasion of Silver Jubilee Celebrations (November 18th & 19th, 2022).
• Day 1 featured keynote speakers Sri Chandrakant Pithawa (Padma Shri Awardee, Former Director-BARC, Mumbai) and Prof. KC Santosh (Chair, Dept. of CS, University of South Dakota, USA).
• Day 2 included talks by Prof. Suresh Chandra Satpathy (Professor and Dean (Research), KIIT, Bhubaneswar) on “Computational Intelligence: A New Approach of Problem Solving” and Mr. Srinivasa Reddy (Senior Director, Mixed Reality, Microsoft India, Hyderabad) on “Future Technology Trends-Career Opportunities in Metaverse/Web 3.0/AI/AR/MR.”

Research Proposals and Funding

• The department submitted proposals for various research schemes to DST (8 proposals), Department of Biotechnology (2 proposals), and ICSSR (1 proposal), totaling ₹3,02,28,605 for the academic year 2022-2023.

Industry Collaboration

• A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with CYMAX Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. in January 2023 for activities related to skill-based training and expert lectures.

Student Placements and Internships

• A total of 170 students (168 B.Tech from the 2019-2023 batch and 2 M.Tech) were placed in reputed MNCs.
• Two students from the 2019-2023 batch secured placements at Twilio with a CTC of ₹47 Lakh/Annum.
• A total of 125 students secured internships in the academic year 2022-2023 at companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, and D.E Shaw, with the highest stipend being ₹1,25,000/-.

Entrepreneurship

• Pratyusha (IV CSE C), along with her teammates B. Vidya Sree (IV CSE C) and Ameena (IV ECE-B), successfully incorporated a company named Dyonya Private Limited. They have been working on the idea under the guidance of faculty members since her 2nd year.
• Pratyusha and B. Vidya Sree received the GNITS Seed Grant for developing a healthcare product, Glycosap. They also won a consolation prize at Anveshana 2023 finals and were selected for the WE-Alpha and UP surge programs at WE Hub.

Student Achievements

• Tharunya Varma (III CSE A) secured the 2nd prize in the Essay Writing Competition on Cyber Security at JNTUH Golden Jubilee Celebrations (September 2022).
• Keerthi Sri (III CSE-C) received the 2nd prize in the short film competition on Cyber Security at JNTUH Golden Jubilee Celebrations (September 2022).
• Pravalika and Sana Sultana (II CSE C) won a consolation prize in the National Level Hackathon on Rich Web Application Development conducted by Nalla Narasimha Reddy College of Engineering (April 29th, 2023).
• Two students received Best Research Paper Awards at the 6th Pure Earth Environment Conference organized by Pure Earth Foundation and Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (April 2023).

• Two hackathons were conducted under CSI by the Department of CSE:
  • “Cyber Security” for II B.Tech students (April 15th, 2023) in association with Indian Servers, Hyderabad.
  • “Applied Data Science with IBM Cloud” for III B.Tech students (November 12th-13th, 2022) in association with Smart Bridge Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad.
