Department highlights
G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science (for Women) Innovation & Incubation cell and Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with PSGiTech College Coimbatore and SAP Labs India Pvt. Ltd conducted HACKFEST 2024 (A National Level Hackathon Regional round for Telangana State) on 27th April 2024. More than 85 teams participated from various reputable engineering colleges in Telangana.
Department of Mechanical Engineering and GNITS I&I organised an interaction between Mr. Priyank Badola, ‘Seeds of Peace’, organizers of Climate Tank Accelerator and students of GNITS on 2nd May 2024. ‘Seeds of Peace’ is partnering with the U.S. Department of State for a Climate Tank Accelerator to lead climate action initiatives where students can win a fully funded fellowship in the U.S., joining other teams from South Asia! Six Teams from GNITS got selected to phase-2 and received $200 stipend to work on their project.
On 4th November 2024, the teams selected during Phase-2 from GNITS presented their projects and showcased their prototypes in front of the invited dignitaries: Salil Kader, Strategic Planning and Public Engagement Advisor U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad, Namitha Aby John, Program and Outreach Specialist at American Corner, Shweta Patole, Priyank Badola, the Program Coordinators of Seeds of Peace .
A team of 2nd year IT-B students mentored by P.M.S.Hallika received $500 runner-up prize in Phase-3 of Climate Tank Accelerator.
II/IV CSE A students secured the 1st runner-up prize with a cash award of Rs. 40,000 in the “Technovate for India” ideathon by The Times of India for their tech-based solutions for handloom weavers mentored by Hiranmai mam.
The national-level hackathon event, ARANI 1.0, hosted by GNITS Innovation & Incubation Cell and Mechanical Department, was a grand success, bringing together 54 enthusiastic teams from various colleges across the country. These teams participated in a dynamic 24-hour hackathon held from January 22nd to 23rd, 2025, showcasing their innovative solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With themes ranging from quality education and women empowerment to creative technologies and agriculture, the event fostered an environment of collaboration, learning, and problem-solving. The successful execution of the event was marked by strong coordination, spirited participation, and recognition through attractive prizes, making it a memorable highlight of the NEXORA’25 Tech Fest.
