Department Overview

The Basic Sciences Department encompasses Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, and Environmental Sciences, and plays a vital role in the education of B.Tech students. It includes specialized labs for Chemistry, Physics, and Life Sciences, where students perform experiments as part of their curriculum. With a multi-disciplinary faculty from diverse fields, the department provides essential scientific knowledge and practical experience, supporting the broader engineering curriculum and ensuring a strong foundation in fundamental sciences.

Department Highlights:

The Dept. Consists with a total number of 13 Ph.D (5 Associate Professors) holders out of 17 faculty in Physics, Chemistry & Environmental Science
The Dept. Organized a seminar on ‘Environment Protection – Need for an Hour’ in association with Pure Earth Environment and Babul NGOs in the year 2022 and 2025 on the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’.
The Dept. organized a seminar on ‘Solutions for Pollution’ 06^th December 2023 on the account of ‘National Pollution Control Day’ in association with Telangana Pollution Control Day (TGPCB).
The Dept. organized field trips to III B.Tech Students to ‘Medak Urban Forest and Nehru Zoological Park’ in 2022 & 2023 to sensitize the young minds to wildlife environment.
The Dept. Organized ‘International Conference on Advancements in Humanities, Management, Science & Technology (ICAHMST)’ in association with Dept of H&M and RSP Science Hub, Coimbatore on 24^th & 25^th July 2024.
The Dept. Organized ‘7^th International Conference on Communications and Cyber Physical Engineering (ICCCE-2025)’ in association with EEE Dept on 19^th & 20^th July 2024.
The Dept. organized ‘National Science Day’ in association with Rastrapathi Bhavan in the last week of February 2024 & 2025.
The Dept. Organized National Level Hackathon on ‘Innovate 4 Menstrual Waste’ on 24^th & 25^th May 2022 in association with Telangana State Innovative Cell, ITE & C Dept. and Water Aid.
The Dept. faculty have filled around 20 patents 2 patents got grant as well.
Department has initiated CEEP (Cognitive, Experimental, Experiential, phenomenal) projects in Physics and Chemistry disciplines.
