Dr.M.V.L.Surya Kumari, Physical Directress

The dept. of Physical Education is headed by Dr.M.V.L.Surya Kumari.  Her Educational qualifications are M.Sc.M.P.Ed Ph.D. Dr. Surya Kumari was awarded first Ph.D. in the area of Physical Education from Osmania University. She carried out her research work at National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad on Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology with UGC fellowship.

She is a National Gold medalist in Athletics, participated in many national and Inter University tournaments. Dr. Surya Kumari is a certified Yoga Trainer and Diabetes Therapist.

She presented 10 research papers in International conferences held at USA, Australia, Thailand, UK ( Pre London Olympic conferences at Glasgow and Cambridge University) and India. She was an invited speaker for Sports nutrition work shop organized at Common wealth Games conducted in 2010 at New Delhi, India.

Dr. Surya Kumari published 6 papers in International journals. She is a member of JNTUH Executive Sports Council. Dr. Surya Kumari is a member of Board of Studies for MS (Sports Science), JNTU Kakinada and Visiting Professor for the same course.

She has more than 15 years teaching experience in the field of Physical Education. At present she is guiding one Ph.D. scholar.

EVOLUTION OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The department of Physical Education was established in January 2002. The management has appointed coaches for the various games and sports who train the students to participate in inter college and university level competitions and has succeeded in achieving many golden moments for the college.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The department was established with the following objectives.

  • Development of wholesome personality of all the students through their participation in various sports and games.
  • Development of sports infrastructural facilities.
  • Preparation of college teams for the inter college and university tournaments in different events.
  • Organization of intra college competitions between different departments to provide opportunity for all the students to participate in various sports events.

SPORTS FACILITIES:

A Spacious room for INDOOR game is equipped with facilities to play

  • A spacious Indoor sports room is equipped with facilities to play Table tennis, Chess and Carroms.

  • An Indoor badminton stadium with two wooden courts.

 

 

 

 

FITNESS WING:

 

 

 

A Fitness wing has been established with latest Excercise-Cycle, Twisters and Ab-Slimmer etc.

 

 

 

 

 

OUTDOOR FACILITIES:

   

  • One Basketball court
  • Two Volleyball courts
  • Two Throw ball courts
  • One Handball court
  •  One Kho Kho field
  • 200 Mts. Running track

 

Best Achievements:

GNITS won the JNTU Central Zone boys and girls over all championship trophy  during 2013-14 for the first time.

  • GNITS got the JNTU zone-a boys and girls over all championship trophy  during 2013-14 for the first time.

  • GNITS got JNTU  central zone sports and games girls over all championship from past 8 years consecutively.

  • GNITS got zone-a games and sports over all championship from past 5 years consecutively.

  • From 2003-2014,  86 students represented JNTU in the inter university tournaments.

  • During 2013-14, two tennis players from this college represented JNTU in the central zone all India University Tournament and won Silver Medal and participated in inter zonal Inter University Tournament.
